TAKE A STAND!
Ephesians 6:13 "Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand."
The Lord has supplied us with all the necessary things, and He expects us to "stand." The NASV renders this "to stand firm." It seems that there are far too many Christians who are unwilling to take a stand.
Some will not stand against false doctrine or those who teach it. They have a low tolerance for "naming names" of those who hold false views. They don't want anyone to specify the errors that are being taught and practiced. They even go in to great lengths to find some way to justify their continued fellowship with such false teachers. Included in this group are some that are misusing Romans 14. They claim that this text allows for an on-going relationship with those who teach false doctrine. This interpretation is at direct odds with numerous other passages that instruct us to rebuke false teachers and have no company with them (Gal. 1:8,9; 2 John 9). These folks need to take a stand!
Others will not take a stand on important moral issues. Too many Christians want to be like the worldly people around them. They want to dress, talk and act like the world. They want their children to be able to do all the worldly things that others do, including the wearing of immodest clothes, mixed swimming, dancing, attending filthy movies, etc. They simply do not want to be different from the world. In this, they refuse to take a stand.
The spiritual battle with the forces of Satan is real and intense. There is no time to be weak or indecisive. "Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong" (1 Cor. 16:13).
