    3. Does God want me to stay separated from Him?
    4. What makes it possible for God to take my sins away?
  1. Read John 3:16 and answer the following:
    1. How does God feel about me?
    2. What gift did He give me to show His love?
    3. What does this gift keep me from?
    4. What does this gift make possible for me?
    5. What do I have to do to receive this gift?
  1. I am separated from God by my sins.

God loves me and wants me to be with Him again.
He had to punish my sins but found a way to do that by substitution:

Jesus, who never sinned, was treated as a sinner. He was punished for sins He did not do.
    Read 1 Peter 1:21-24 and 2 Corinthians 5:21.
This is how God can substitute the undeserved punishment of Jesus for the punishment I deserve.
Read Romans 5:6-9. Read your name in when it says "us" and "we."
So my sins are punished through Jesus. And, the righteousness of Jesus can be offered to me. When Jesus bled, died, and was separated from God on the cross, Jesus took the punishment for me. When Jesus died on the cross it was then possible for God to both punish and forgive.

  2. The drawing below shows a cross and drops of blood to remind us: Christ died for us. John 3:16. Draw yours beside it and put the statement and scripture.
